Introduction

Hello,

Indeed this is one of the thousands blogs floating around. This isn't just another musicblog though. Nor is this a diary. No, this blog isn't about me. As the title indicates, the main objective is to find out the "favourite things" of idols. With the notion 'idols' I mean the people I look up to because of their contribution to the artistic world, and probably because of their personality too of course. As favourites I'll mostly mention their favourite music, movies, books etc. So it's quite a wide range, as far as interests go.

I don't want to make this a one-man-project. I already stated in the title 'our'. Only putting forward my idols would be a bit selfish. In a way it would be a blog about me then. So I would like other people to join this "project". Feel free to email me.
You can also contribute just by adding information in comments or by emailing me.

I appreciate reliability. I seek to offer information that is true, which people stated as facts (in an interview for example). So I want to use a sort of reference system. It isn't as extensive as the known academic systems. All I demand is to mention the title of the publication (book, magazine, site etc.) and the author. So readers can see the source(s) you consulted and conclude about the reliability about the information.

The info in this blog's posts will never be "exhausted" as, depending on more and more things we read, always new information will surface. Logically, I consider this a continuous project. And it's an ambitious one too, yes.

But, why providing this sort of information? Well, certainly one is always curious about what his/her idol likes. But the most important is, that it's a great way to discover new things. If you like the work of certain artists you may possibly like their favourites and influences too.

Finally, I chose the blog as medium since it's a fast and efficient way to publish information. I realize that overall 'blogs' aren't viewed as a source of (reliable) information. Because of its popularity it's more considered an ephemeral medium to give one's thoughts about things. Hopefully with 'What do our idols like?' there's offered a blog that reveals factual info about the interests of great people :)

Hope you'll like this blog,

Matthias.
